This is interesting as we have a written account of how one of Mary’s
antecedents was an English soldier – time span about right. There are
also Dempsey lurking in there somewhere as well, but please don’t get
excited as there is a long way to go back and prove hearsay.
Post famine, although Wexford didn’t fare too badly compared to the
west, work was still hard to come by and althougth the English were
despised I am sure there was still more fraternisation than the
Republicans would like us to believe.
It’ll be interesting to see what our more historically literate members
have to say about this.
